Feb 16 – Mark 1:29-45

I am Willing

John Dailey

In this section of Mark, there is a leper who begs Jesus to heal him. Jesus has compassion for the man, reaches out, and heals him. “I am willing,” Jesus says. It reminds me of the Savior’s heart and His unending love for me. Love that would lead Him to the foot of the cross.

Before the world began, the members of the Trinity worked out a plan to secure man’s salvation. Jesus would willingly offer Himself on the cross for our sins. He would pay the ransom for man so we could move from death to life. Just as Jesus reached out to heal the man of his leprosy, He reaches out to make our hearts clean so that we can enter Heaven forever.

So now, what will my response be to the spiritual healing Jesus has given to me? My goal is to be like the man in the reading and tell everyone I can about the love God has for them and how Jesus can transform their life and make them whole. Jesus wants us to let the whole world know that He is willing to save all who come to Him in repentance.

We pray:

Gracious Lord, You willingly sacrificed Your life for me. Help me to be willing to answer Your call for me to use my life to tell others of Your boundless love. Give me the words of hope that come from You alone. Amen.
