Feb 20 – Mark 3:20-25

Family bonds tend to be far stronger than the bonds we have with other people, with a few exceptions. Family members stick together and stand up for each other.

Jesus was teaching a group of people in Capernaum and His family came to rescue Him. Because of the crowd, they were not close to where Jesus was so they passed the word through the crowd that His family was there and   wanted to see Him. Instead of stopping what He was doing and  going to see His family, Jesus responds with, “ Who is My mother, or My brothers?” I am sure many people were shocked. How do you treat your family like that? Jesus goes on to explain that things of God take priority over the things of this earth. Spiritual relationships take priority over human relationships.

Our family on earth is important and we should thank God daily that we have such a wonderful family that loves and supports us, but it is more important that we are also part of the Spiritual family. What is really wonderful is when your family is also part of your spiritual family. When you have problems that come up from time to time and you are looking for advice or just want to talk to someone, you should find someone in your Spiritual family. Someone who cares for you and loves the Lord as you do.

We pray:

Heavenly Father let me be surrounded with people who care for me and are close to you. In all things let me always strive to know and do your will.  Amen
