Growing up, I was often taught about the importance of confidence. Confidence always seemed to be a final major step towards whatever activity or task I was trying to achieve. Of course, “here’s what to do and how to do it” is vital, but why try to do something without the faith that it will come into fruition?

In this passage, Christ tells His disciples that they have the power to move mountains with their faith – mountains! Think about how incredible that is! But the catch – they must “have no doubt” in their hearts. Often, this doubt in our faith or doubt in ourselves has more potential to get in the way of something God may have for us, or keep us from getting where He wants us to be. But He tells us that if we allow      ourselves to be firm and strong in our faith, we can pray to Him for anything, and know in our hearts that He will provide as promised. It’s this kind of faith that throughout time has strengthened families, built communities, opened our eyes to miracles, healed the sick, and even brought others to know Christ.

I’m sure we all have things we’re hoping for, things we want to improve. Christ is the MVP of all providers, after all – no reason for us to be anything less than confident and full of faith when we go to Him about these things.

Thank you for the gift of faith. Give us confidence to know that You have the power to do amazing things in this world. Help us to recognize Your work in our lives, and empower us to live   only for You. Amen.
