Feb 18 – Mark 2:18-28

Fasting

Chris Tywon

Fasting during this Lenten season is a way for me to reflect on Jesus’ life and my life, to remind me to take time out of my busy day and hear what God is saying or trying to tell me. Fasting should help us focus our attention on God. It also reminds us of our weakness and our complete           dependence on God, which helps us concentrate in prayer.

Fasting for me is so hard to do. It is work, hard work, as it should be—look what Jesus did for us!

In Mathew 6:16-18 we are told to “fast in secret”, in  doing so we are focused on God. Fasting is an act of humility and He will reward us.

We pray:

Father I pray that during this Lenten season I may have the strength to truly fast and be totally dependent upon You.  May my prayer times with You be heartfelt and meaningful. Father I ask this in Your most holy and precious name, Amen.
